| The following biography is submitted by Holly Le Roy:
Jane Bradford was born March 25, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. Relocating to California with her parents, she attended high school in La Jolla and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Mills College in 1944. It was during her years at Mills that she developed her life-long interest in art and began to focus on painting.
In 1960, while raising her family in the area, she took first place in a watercolor competition sponsored by the San Luis Obispo Art Center. In recent decades, she has worked predominately in oils.
Her range includes landscapes, both European and local, townscapes, still lifes and maritime subjects. Her style, influenced by extensive European travel, has taken inspiration from Gaughin, Van Gogh, Matisse, Vollard and Bonnard.
Her paintings are exhibited in a number of galleries on the Monterey Peninsula. Paintings by Bradford are included in the collections of actor-director Alan Arkin, film and theatrical director Lamont Johnson, and Cheers producer Glen Charles, as well as those of Mrs. Maggie Eastwood (Mrs. Wally Cox).
