This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Portrait painter Jason Bouldin attended Harvard University and studied art history, art theory and art criticism. During his summer vacations from college the artist spent time apprenticing in the studio of his father Marshall Bouldin. For two years after his graduation from Harvard, Bouldin continued to work in the studio of his father.
After much preparation the artist has found success on his own. He has had many high profile commissions including that of the President of Harvard University and Dr. A.B. Lewis, Dean Emeritus, College of Liberal Arts, The University of Mississippi. Bouldin won the Grand prize at The Portrait Society of America's conference held in Philadelphia in April 2002 for his portrait of Jimmy Allgood, a volunteer fire fighter.
Classically trained Bouldin paints landscapes and still-lifes as well as his portraits though he approaches all of his subjects as portraits. He believes every object has an intrinsic presence that is unique to that object.
