| Painter, teacher and professional musician John N Booth uses the principles of value relationships to intensify his works dramatic and emotional impact.
Discouraged by the lack of academic drawing and traditional painting methods courses being taught in art schools after his high school graduation, Booth decided to pursue a music education which embraced the discipline and respect for traditional methods that Booth knew he needed to develop his own talents. Booth became accomplished on the viola and performed professionally with chamber groups and orchestras for over ten years.
When Booth again decided to pursue painting he was disappointed in the art school curriculum and set out to teach himself. Booth focused on drawing and studying the works of classic illustration from the mid 20th century. Booth spent many years drawing in charcoal to discover the principles of value relationships which make his paintings so powerful today.
Booth is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America. In 2002 he won awards from the American Artists Professional League, the Breckenridge Fine Art Center's 11th Annual National juried Exhibition and the 17th Annual National Competition of the Bosque Conservatory in Clinton,Texas.
