This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Little is known of Jonathan Buddington's life. He was a contemporary of John Wesley Jarvis. Most of Buddington's identified sitters are believed to be from the coastal area of Connecticut from near New York to Killingworth, which is near Clinton, Connecticut.

William A. Cyr, Jr.

He resided in New York c. 1798 to 1812.  His portrait of a little girl, signed and dated "J. Buddington pinxt 1800", was owned by a Brookline (Mass.) collector as of 1957.
