Josephine M. Brooks was a Peconic Bay Impressionist who was a skilled painter of landscapes and seascapes.  Born in 1910, she began her studies with Caroline Bell in the 1950’s after Bell had gained prominence in the community.  It is a possibility Josephine Brooks was a relative of the Brooks brothers who hailed from Orient Point, Long Island.
