| Artist of sculpture and mixed media work, Karen Lee Breschi has worked
as a sculpting instructor for a number of establishments in California.
Breschi was born in Oakland, California in 1941. She studied at
the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, where she
received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 1963. Two years
later she earned her Master’s degree at San Francisco State University
in California and attended the San Francisco Art Institute for
several years. Later, in 1987, she attended the California
Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco where she obtained her
Doctorate.
Several solo exhibitions of her work have been held in San Francisco
and New York City by the Braunstein/Quay Gallery. Her work has
been part of group exhibitions at institutions, including the Laguna
Beach Museum in California; Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York
City; Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington,
D.C.; University of Santa Barbara, California; and the Whitney Museum
of American Art in New York City.
Examples of Breschi’s artwork can be found in the permanent collections
of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona; the University of
California, Berkeley; Oakland Museum of Art, California; San Francisco
Museum of Art; and the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento, California.
