From her East Village, New York studio Kathy Butterly creates small ceramic sculptures that are cartoonish, beautiful and grotesque. The artist creates the sculptures in response to her surroundings and topics of the day. They contain elements of classic and Asian art.
Butterly grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey and attended Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia where she studied painting and sculpture. She was turned on to ceramics when she attended a workshop by Viola Frey, (showing 500 of 1165 characters). |
