This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Thomas Blackmon lived and worked in San Antonio, Texas during his painting career. He was born and raised in Ennis, Texas and attended high school in San Antonio. After graduation from high school, Blackmon attended the Art Institute of Chicago where he studied for four years and then received a scholarship for study at the Academie Julian, Paris.

Before starting his painting career, Blackmon worked as an inspector and surveyor for the Texas Highway Department.

He exhibited his paintings frequently in San Antonio Galleries and died in 1990 in San Antonio, Texas.

Exhibition venues included the Exhibition of Texas Artists, San Antonio Art League; Art Institute of Chicago; Exhibition of Texas Artists, Nashville Museum of Art; Edgar B. Davis Competition, San Antonio; San Antonio Local Artists Annual Exhibition, and the Texas General Exhibition (1940).
