This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Santo Antonio, a village near Lonate, Italy in 1885. While a hod carrier Brusatori became fascinated with the fresco painters working at a local church. Inspired by their work, he entered the Reggia Art Academy in Milan. At 17 he painted his first fresco in a Milan church and from that day made his living as an artist. While living in San Francisco during 1912-21, he painted frescoes for the Catholic Church. His best known works in San Francisco are the St Francis of Assisi Church on Vallejo Street and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church over the Broadway Tunnel (the entire church is covered with his paintings including the ceiling). He also painted murals in the old Palace Cafe on Ellis Street, a theatre in Watsonville, the Sacred Heart Church in Red Bluff, Santa Clara Church in Oxnard, and St John Baptist in Fresno. During his nine years in California he painted the official portrait of Bishop John Cantwell. Brusatori died in Italy in 1942.
