This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Lyle Hatcher Bennett was born in West Virginia on June 24, 1903. Lyle was the wife of attorney Herman Bennett.  She studied at Northwestern University, West Virginia University, Art Students League in New York City and with Hans Hofmann.  By the 1940s she had settled in North Hollywood, CA. She died in Riverside, CA on May 21, 1988. 

Exhibited:  Allied Artists of West Virginia, 1935-45; New York World’s Fair, 1939; Butler Art Institute, 1940-43; San Fernando Art Club, 1940s; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 1946.
