| Mabel A. Bain was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1880. Bain studied art in Los Angeles with Millard Sheets at Chouinard and Otis art schools, and privately with George D. Otis whose influence is seen in her works. Most of her career was spent in Vancouver, Canada where she was a pupil of Thomas W. Fripp. She died in Fort Langley about 1965.
