This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Glendale, California, Marbury Brown became a watercolor artist and fashion illustrator, working in New York, Texas, and North Carolina.

He studied at the Jepsen Art School in Los Angeles and from 1947 to 1950 was a student at the Kansas City Art Institute. He became a member of the American Watercolor Society and the Society of Illustrators in New York and has taught there at the School of Visual Arts, the Pratt Institute, and in Sarasota, Florida at the Ringling School of Art. From 1957 to 1960, he was Fashion Illustrator for Nieman Marcus Stores in Dallas, Texas and from 1960 to 1980, was a courtroom television illustrator in New York City.

From 1980 to 1989, he was chair of the Art Department and professor of art at Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina. His work is in the collections of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, and the Frye Museum in Seattle.
