| Born in Santa Rosa, CA on Nov. 5, 1906 of German parents. Bielefeldt's mother divorced her father to marry artist Charles M. Crocker in 1919. It was he who first taught her to paint. The family moved to southern California in 1921 and the budding young artist began to develop artistically. At the onset of the Depression, she returned to Oakland to enter nursing school.
