This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| The following, submitted August 2004, is from Martha Darby.
I just found out I am a descendent of Martin Brechall, and I have just requested his Revolutionary War pension file. He is recognized in the pension rolls as-Martin Brechal), a Revolutionary War vet, who was reportedly married 3 times and had about 12 or 13 children.
I have been able to find him so far in the 1790, 1800 & 1820 census records. Per the pension index his last wife's name was Catharina or Catharine Cunifer or Cunifar. Catherine lived from about 1771 until 1867. Martin's son-Martin Brechal, Jr., had 2 wives-Elizabeth Smith & Helen Dudley. Martin Brechal, Jr's first marriage yielded a daughter, Sarah Ann Brechal. She married Joseph Bailey and one of her sons, Martin Brechal Bailey, applied for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution in 1895.
