Mary Dunkin Barber was born in San Anselmo, California on March 20, 1870, Mary Dunkin Barber
was with a family that settled in Marin County in 1860 and owned most
of the land now covered by the towns of Ross and San Anselmo.
During the 1880s, Mary Barber was a pupil of William Keith. For
many years she was active in the San Francisco art scene.
Unmarried, she was deranged at the time of her suicide at Stanford Hospital on January 20, 1929.
