| | Born in Sandwich, IL on July 8, 1892. Bergesen was educated at Northwestern University. While a member of the U.S. Army Engineers, he came to Pasadena in 1917. Following his discharge, he became an apprentice at the McCann Advertising Agency in San Francisco while studying at the CSFA. He was a resident of Los Angeles by 1925 with a studio in the American Bank Bldg. While supporting himself with commercial work, he studied painting with Will Foster. In 1944 he moved to Chicago where he continued to freelance and illustrate for Boy's Life, Christian Herald, and others magazines. In 1976 he returned to California to be near his son in San Jose. He died there on July 11, 1984. | Source:
