| | Born in San Francisco, CA on April 5, 1887. Barkan began studying at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute at age nine. He was educated at Oxford University and the University of Munich. A medical doctor and prominent San Franciscan, he painted in his leisure. His painting forte was landscapes of California and of Sweden during his European travels. He died in his native city on April 26, 1958. Member: Calif. Physicians AA.
