This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Denmark in May 1861.  Busch studied in Munich and Paris and painted for 18 months in the palace of the King of Denmark.  In NYC he had painted frescoes and decorations in the Madison Square Theatre, Wallack's New Theatre, Hotel Brunswick, as well as the Grand Opera House in Syracuse.  In St Louis he decorated the home of brewer Adolphus Busch and the Presbyterian Church.

He came to California in the 1880s and was commissioned to do decorations in the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego.  He then settled in San Francisco into a studio in the old “Monkey Block” (now the Transamerica Pyramid).  In 1889 he shared studios with Eduardo Tojetti in the Murphy Building at the corner of Market and Jones where the two artists were partners in a successful fresco and interior decorating business.  In 1895 he and artist August Wocker built an elaborate villa on Sacramento Street which served as their studio-home for many years.  There “the two owners devoted themselves to the painting of gobelin tapestries in luminous colors.”

Following the earthquake of 1906, he returned to Denmark.
