Philip Augustus Butler was born in Amesbury, MA, Nov. 30, 1829 and died in Merrimacport, MA, September 1, 1916.  He married Rebecca Gave in 1888 in MA. His parents were  Charles Butler and Rebecca Graves.   

Butler exhibited at the Boston Art Club in 1890, 1891 and 1895 to 1899 and the Art Institute of Chicago, in 1896, 1897, 1899, 1906 and 1913.

He lived in Auburndale, Massachusetts.

Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter. Born in Amesbury, MA. Formerly of Boston, Butler was a resident of Pasadena in 1900.

While there, he painted a few landscapes of the area. By 1915 he was living in Auburndale, MA.

Member: Boston Art Club. CD; AAA 1915.
