| Richard Fayerweather Babcock was born in Denmark, IA on June 4, 1887. Babcock studied at the Art Students League in NYC, Art Institute of Chicago, and in Munich. He lived in Pittsburgh, PA during 1922-26 and Evanston, IL in 1947. His illustrations appeared in Encyclopaedia Brittanica. While in California, he painted a mural in the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego. During his last years he taught at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He died on Feb. 23, 1954.
