| Born in Hampton, England on Oct. 25, 1867, Reginald Bradley was the son
of a painter. He studied at the Kensington School of Art.
The lure of the Wild West brought him to America in 1888. In New
Mexico he worked as a cowboy until joining the cavalry at Fort Bowie as
an Indian figher. He left the cavalry in 1894 to become a rancher
in northern California and Oregon.
From 1910-20 he was a ranger at Fremont National Forest. The
latter part of his life was spent as a rancher near Davis Creek where
he prospered in real estate. In his leisure he became a competent
painter of the California landscape.
Bradley died at Grass Valley, CA on Feb. 5, 1971 and is buried in the Presidio in San Francisco.
