| Roberley Bell was born in western Massachusetts. She spent her childhood in Latin America and Southeast Asia before returning to attend the University of Massachusetts and State University of New York at Alfred where she holds an M.F.A. in sculpture.
Bell was the recipient of a 2001 New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship and a studio residency in New York City from the International Studio Program. Her past awards include a Mid-Atlantic community grant, a Fulbright to the Netherlands, and several residency awards.
She has exhibited internationally and was the subject of two one-person shows: Always the Immigrant at Old Dominion University in September 2001 and Perfect View at Western Michigan University in November 2001. She is a professor of art and design at Rochester Institute of Technology and lives in a farming community in upstate New York.
