Biography from Nuevo Santander Gallery:
| Santos Barbosa was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in the 1960s where he has resided ever since. Santos is primarily a self-taught painter with strong influences from the works of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington. He has spent years researching the Southwest at the turn of the century for his paintings.
His work is included in collections worldwide. Santos has developed a distinctive impressionistic style using vivid colors to capture the mood and heritage of a bygone era. Many of his paintings are interpretation of historical scenes in the Rio Grande Valley. |
