Biography from Heritage Auctions (HA.com):
Scott Barber received a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and an MFA from Southern Methodist University.  He also studied at the Florence Academy of Art.

His work is included in the permanent collection of museums throughout Texas, such as the Dallas Museum of Art and The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

Barber experimented with atypical materials and methods including the use of urethane paint (a paint typically used for cars) and the practice of painting on top of photographic images. Through these methods, he created an oeuvre of boldly colored abstracts with a digital quality.

Towards the end of his life, Barber was diagnosed with Leukemia, and images of his cancer cells inspired one of his most well-known series.
