Steven Brent Personal Statement, March 24, 2004:
I like to go into the studio and mix up a color and throw it onto the canvas with any tool that appeals to me at the time. I surround myself with the canvas from three sides like a cave or womb. I build up ripples, and mounds of canvas and huge pieces of dried paint. When they are secure, I can throw sometimes a gallon at one throw of gel thickened paint and watch it slide down the sculpted surface in its own free flowing pattern (showing 500 of 5645 characters). |
