| | Sydney Bagshaw was born on March 1, 1904 in San Francisco, California. Active in San Francisco in the 1920s, Bagshaw had a studio in the "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Pyramid) where he produced linoleum cuts. He later moved to New York and became successful as an illustrator for national magazines.
