This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Thaddeus Beal is a lawyer turned artist, who went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in his forties. He has been an artist ever since and remained in Boston where his work is predominantly shown. He has also shown at galleries in New York and Connecticut.

He makes paintings, drawings and prints, all of which are abstract and non-narrative. He is not a part of any particular art movement, nor much associated with other artists. His work is loosely based on the interaction of patterns from many sources, including Islam, nature and science.

He often works with unusual media, such as tar, chalk and rust, but the end product is finished and reads like any painting. He signs his work on the back, except for prints.

He is mentioned in several art books about Boston, most recently "100 Boston Artists," 2013, Chawky Frenn, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd.
