Thomas Barlow engraved many of the works of J. E. Millais, including "The Huguenot", "Effie Deans", "John Bright", "Gladstone", "The Bride of Lammermoor" and "Tennyson".
Royalties from such engravings, sold very widely to an appreciative public, were one of the ways in which artists such as Millais became more famous and considerably more wealthy. Barlow also engraved many of the works of John Phillip, and it was these that were his best-known engravings during his lifetime. |
