This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| The following is submitted by Zak Friedman, partner of the artist.
BIOGRAPHY: Born in Israel, a student in the United States and Japan, Tova Beck-Friedman is working and living in New York. She is a sculptor who has been using a visual vocabulary that synthesizes figurative imagery -- both archaeological and architectural -- resulting in primordial forms of figural and abstract. For the most part the materials were humble -- clay, paper and concrete.
Interested in the psychology of space, she places conscious emphasis on placement of figures in rhythmic groups, usually in landscape settings. Individual elements interact in dynamic rhythms with one another, with the site, and with the viewer, who in turn, becomes the link among the pieces.
Beck-Friedman has been widely exhibited including one person shows at: Monique Goldsrom Gallery, NYC; New Jersey State Museum; Bill Bace Gallery, NYC; the Newark Museum; Herzliya Museum in Israel; Michaelson & Orient Gallery, London, UK.
Her work is held in numerous public collections among which are: Herzliya Museum, Israel; Be'er Sheva City Hall, Israel; the Newark Museum; Arizona State University Museum; New Jersey State Museum; the Paterson Museum; Fukuoka Town Hall, Japan; Skidmore College, NY; William Paterson College, NJ; Schering-Plough Corporation; Morris College, NJ;
