| A painter known especially for portraits, Virginia Betts also was an illustrator and muralist whose murals hung in the Ballroom of the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas. She was born in Yazoo, Mississippi and lived in Waco and then in 1907, moved to Dallas where she spent most of her career.
She studied in Paris before World War II, exhibited at the Paris Salon and with the Joint Exhibition of Society of French Artists.
