| Bayne, a British-American who came to the United States about 1840, was a painter of panoramas. One of his works, a painting of a voyage to Europe, was exhibited between 1847 and 1856 in Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, Charleston, and St. Louis.
Bayne also painted scenes of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. While living in Boston in the 1840s, he exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum. His work was also shown at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1848.
