| Born in Spokane, Washington on April 24, 1899. Bloomer (aka William Dampier) spent most of his career in Los Angeles in a studio atop Mt Washington and in Laguna Beach where he was active in the local art scene. His teachers included Jack Wilkinson Smith and Ejnar Hansen. An impressionist, his work is characterized by brilliant color and fine draftsmanship. He often used a palette knife to create landscapes and still lifes. He died in San Diego on August 15 , 1985.
Exhibited: Laguna Beach Art Ass’n, 1940s; Webb Gallery (Los Angeles), 1941; Catholic Womens Club (Los Angeles), 1951; Long Beach Museum, 1978.

D. Dampier (1910-1985) was born in Spokane, Washington in 1910.
He spent most of his life in Los Angeles with a studio atop Mount
Washington. He was a pupil of Jack Wilkinson Smith and Ejnar
Hansen.
An impressionist, his work is characterized by
brilliant color and fine draftsmanship. His subjects include desert
landscapes and still lifes.
