This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Landscape painter, Alexander Hamilton Clements was a resident of Washington in 1860. He was a consul to Messina, Italy (1849-52); and Perrabuco, Brazil (1852-58). He painted a view of Washington in 1848 and that same year exhibited it at the American Art Union.
At one time he shared a studio with John Mix Stanley.
