Sculptor Alice Cooper was born on April 8, 1875 in Glenwood, Iowa and was raised in Denver, Colorado. She first studied under Preston Powers and later studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Cooper was an assistant instructor at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1900-1901. She also studied at the Art Students League from 1899-1900.
In 1904 Cooper won a competition to create a life-size bronze statue of Sacajawea for the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon. The ve (showing 500 of 1224 characters). |
