| Born in Roanoke, VA on Oct. 3, 1899. Alice Carr studied at the ASL of NYC, AIC, Grande Chaumiére in Paris, privately with Stirling Calder and José de Creeft whom she wed in 1928. During their nine-year marriage, the de Creefts divided their time between the island of Mallorca and NYC. Mrs. de Creeft settled in Santa Barbara, CA in 1937. During the 1970s she taught at the Santa Barbara Art Institute. She died in Santa Barbara on Aug. 2, 1996. Her subjects were mostly animals and rodeo themes.
