Landscape and portrait painter, Antoine Claveau was active in San Francisco, circa 1857-59. In San Francisco, Claveau first exhibited his panorama of Yosemite Valley in 1857.

Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter. Born in France in 1815. Claveau settled in San Francisco in 1854 and three years later exhibited a panorama of Yosemite (1000 feet in length). He was active in San Francisco until 1872 with a residence at 613 Stockton and a studio at 210 Montgomery. His rare works include landscapes and portraits. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1857, 1860; Mechanics' Inst. (SF), 1858. 1 JVN; SF Evening Bulletin, 10-26-1857; Alta Calif., 6-5-1858; AAW; G&W; Sam; CSL.
