| | Born in Monterey, CA on Dec. 31, 1904. While in grammar school, Beryl Otis began art studies under Mary DeNeale Morgan and continued to study and paint with her until her death in 1948. During high school she also studied locally with Clara Eckhardt, and later with Abel Warshawsky and Frank Meyers. After wedding Horace Cochran in the late 1920s, she spent summers on an island in British Columbia while maintaining a home on the Monterey Peninsula. Her paintings include landscapes with cypress trees, adobes, and the coasts of the Monterey Peninsula and British Columbia. Mrs. Cochran died in Monterey on Aug. 23, 2003.
