Biography from Alphanautical Gallery:
| Beverly Carrick was born and raised in California. Introduced to art in her childhood, she found joy in creative oil painting. In 1963 she began painting professionally as a seascape artist in the Laguna Beach and Los Angeles areas. Carrick is mostly self-taught, but has sought the expertise of some major artists in her stages of artistic growth including Lukits, Kerr and Franks.
The appeal of Carrick’s work lies in its unique style and ageless quality. These realistic depictions are a tribute to nature, their hues speaking to viewers from the artist’s special vantagepoint.
The goal of Carrick is to render accurately the effects of light and shade and the blending of subtle and vibrant colors to create breathtaking scenes. At one moment Carrick is able to capture the sun as a red ball of fire posed on the horizon, casting flames of light on deserts and mountains, coloring them in arrays of violets and oranges. In the next moment she catches the graceful rhythm of the rolling waves, the sound of the surf lapping the shore or the serenity of a classical European garden with shimmering images in a refreshing pool, the drama or humor in her Western Americana scenes.
