Biography from a third party submitted on 07/08/2006:
Born in 1931, Craig developed a passionate commitment to painting at an early age.  He graduated from the Philadelphia Museum College of Art and taught there as well. He became an art director for advertising agencies, notably Young and Rubicam, until 1992 when he left to pursue painting on a full-time basis.

From city buildings to landscape to interiors, Bryn Craig's paintings pulsate with color, feeling and texture.  Drawing from his travels as well as from his home environs, he captures scenes from Greece to Ireland, Canada to California and beyond.  Although his work is representational, his paintings are far from photo-realistic.  His work has been exhibited widely on both West and East Coasts, including the John Pence Gallery, San Francisco; the Lawrence Gallery, Sheridan, Oregon, the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the Foxhall Gallery, Washington, DC.  Craig's paintings can be found in major collections including the Hilton Hotel, Kauai, Hawaii, Fannie Mae, Washington, DC, US Embassies in Berlin, Germany and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and in numerous private collections.

Artist's Statement:

"I try to include much more than just the surface of a place.  I want to express my emotions about the subject and to stimulate emotions in the viewer.  What makes me respond to and want to paint a particular subject is a little bit of a mystery to me.  There must be something there that strikes a nerve, but I can't generalize about what it is."
