| Carlos Maganti Tagaroma Carvajal was born in Manila, PI on March 15, 1893. Carvajal studied art at the University of Manila. He arrived in San Francisco in 1924 and settled in the Fillmore District. For many years he worked for local furniture companies painting flowers on furniture and refinishing. He died in San Francisco on Aug. 20, 1973. Many of his early paintings were nostalgic recreations of the Phillipines; whereas, he later painted satiric anti-religious works.
