This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Christian Cardell Corbet was born at Ajax, Ontario, Canada on 31st January 1966. As a child he attended both public and private academic institutions. His talent in the fine arts was recognized by his paternal grandparents who removed their grandson from his parental home at an early age to raise him in a safe and nurturing environment. He was encouraged to pursue his dreams as an artist.
He studied fine art at the University of Guelph, Ontario under June Clark-Greenberg and theatre under playwright Judith Thompson. He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1994 where he established his first studio as a portrait painter and abstract landscape artist. Later he studied in the anatomy laboratories at McMaster University, Ontario. Between 1996-2002 he studied privately under his mentor portrait sculptor Dr. Elizabeth Bradford Holbrook, RCA, OSA, SSC, CPA.
In 2000 he returned back to Ontario to care for his grandmother and to establish a new portrait studio in London, Ontario specializing in sculpture with an emphasis on the rare fine art practice of the art medallion.
Corbet's portrait work in mixed media to include oil, acrylic and bronze and does so in an impressionistic/realist style. His landscapes are more abstract and emphasize jubilant color and form with a strong emphasis on design with great whimsical humour.
