| | Born in Missouri on Feb. 27, 1908. By the late 1920s Choate had moved to Los Angeles. After graduating from the school of architecture at USC, he won a scholarship to Chouinard Art Institute where he later taught. He established a studio-home nearby in Eagle Rock and was active in the local art scene while busy as an architect. He died in Los Angeles on July 8, 1981.
