This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Christin Coy is a landscape painter that has lived in Marin County, California since 1981. Born in Norway, a country with many traditions closely relating to nature, Christin developed a deeply rooted sense of appreciation and love for the outdoors. With her family at the age of 14 she immigrated to California. Later attending the U.C. Berkeley Campus, she received her degree in Fine Art in 1974.
Christin has continued to be very active in the Marin art community and has studied plein-air painting with Bay-Area artists such as Mel Adamson, Pam Glover, Chester Arnold and Stanley Goldstein.
Christin is one of the founding members of two local art organizations: BayWood Artists and Indian Valley Artists. She also belongs to the Marin Arts Council.
Working both in oil and oil pastel on paper or canvas, Christin has developed a fluent media to express her enjoyment, sharing with interested viewers what she observes in nature. "I enjoy using oils in the plein-air paintings, and in my studio I often will merge my love of drawing and painting through the use of oil pastels."
Christin has participated in Marin Open Studios, and in the Marin Art Festival at Lagoon Park. She has supported the Marin AIDS Project, Annual Art Auction and Bolinas Museum's Annual Art Auction. Christin has exhibited widely and her works appear in collections worldwide.
