This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Watercolorist Claude Croney was born in New York City in 1926. He has exhibited at The National Academy, Allied Artists, and the American Watercolor Society.  Croney has also taught, authored the book My Way with Watercolor and published a watercolor demonstration with Silvermine Publishers of Norwalk, Connecticut.

In the book 40 Watercolorists and How They Work by Susan E. Meyer, Croney talks of his work as a watercolorist. "I prefer watercolor because of its unpredictability.  The medium seems to fit my personality: I am impatient, and watercolor has a certain spontaneity and immediacy that appeals to me.  Preferring not to ponder over a painting for many days, I can usually do a watercolor on the spot or in the studio within a couple of hours."

Croney has been the recipient of numerous awards, and was a member of the Boston Watercolor Society, Guild of Boston Artists, Providence Watercolor Club, Kent Art Association, Connecticut Watercolor Society and honorary member of the California Watercolor Society.
