Dana Chandler studied at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, graduating with a BS in art education.  His work is found in Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Museum of National Centre for Afro-American Arts, Boston.  He has had many commissions and awards in New York and New England and many one-man shows.  He had been assistant Professor of painting and Black Art history at Simmons College; Associate professor of African American art history and Assistant professor Black Art history and Resident artist Northeastern University. 

He has directed and taken part in numerous Black Art projects in the Boston area.  He acted as radio announcer-critic for Boston radio station WILD.  His work is figurative, social commentary, still-life, semi-abstract African imagery.  His media consists of drawing, silk screen, painting, sculpture and he works in acrylics and wood. 

Chandler is a painter whom few in Boston can ignore, since his huge Black Power murals glare from the sides of buildings that people pass by every day.
