| | Born in Norwich, CT on Nov. 29, 1787. Coit arrived in California with the Gold Rush of 1849. His drawings of San Francisco are some of the earliest extant. Coit was elected to the Nat'l Academy before his death in Norwich, CT on July 18, 1876.
