Biography from Red Piano Art Gallery of Hilton Head, Inc.:

At age 14, Darden Camlin's first job was modeling for John Whorton's art class in Flat Rock, North Carolina.  Her exposure to this Art Department head's work played a large part in her interest in portraiture.  While at Brevard College, she studied under Dr. James DuBose, the former head of the Art Department at Syracuse University. Her interest grew toward painting the people of the Carolinas and South Carolina specifically.

In order to achieve the desired depth in her works, she often combines pure watercolor with the English watercolors dewent and French watercolor crayons called caran d'ache, as well as acrylic paints.  Veils of gesso and collage techniques with handmade papers further contribute to her works.

A native of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Darden is a signature member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society and a Charter Member of the Georgetown Watercolor Society.  Her paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections domestic and abroad.  She  resides in Georgetown, South Carolina.
