This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Dennison, TX on Aug. 14, 1907. After settling in San Francisco with his family in 1914, Connelly graduated from Mission High School in 1925. He then received a B.A. degree from the school of architecture at UC Berkeley and obtained an M.A. from that school in art design in 1934. As an employee of the Federal Art Project during the 1930s, he did designs and paintings in the old courthouse in Oakland, and a 20-foot oil mural at Oakland's Castlemont High School. He also designed the fountain in the courtyard of Piedmont High School and assisted in setting of the mosaic murals in the Art Gallery at UC Berkeley. He did graduate work in design at the Chicago School of Design and NAD in 1939. Connelly exhibited locally and was active in the San Francisco Bay area until his death in Richmond, CA on Nov. 15, 1964. Exh: Oakland Art Gallery, 1934; Oakland Museum, 1964 (memorial).
