Biography from AskART:
| Best known as a poet and writer, e.e. cummings, who hated capital letters, was also a sketcher and painter of landscapes, figures, and still lifes.
He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts where his father was an ordained minister and amateur artist who encouraged his son to draw. From 1919 through the middle 1920s, Cummings considered himself primarily an artist, but his writing was also being published.
Much of his writing, represented by Ezra Pound, was about art including descriptions of his visit to Picasso's studio. |
