This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Texas Artist Edna Gertrude Collins (1885-1968) was born in Canada and spent her childhood in Germany before moving to Austin, Texas, in 1901. She studied art at the University of Texas and also at Newcomb College in New Orleans. She continued her artistic pursuits by studying under Kenneth Hayes Miller, Dimitri Romanowsky, and Allen Tucker at the Art Students League of New York.
She then spent two years in Europe before returning to Austin where she painted, exhibited, taught, and wrote for much of the rest of her life. She is remembered for murals she painted with the help of Ann Stubbs and German prisoners of war at Camp Swift during WW II. She also painted murals in the Texas State Capitol, Bryan, Goliad, Houston, Texas, and in Berkeley, California
